Check of serviceability of a state and replacement of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid of the engine (EST)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The eats sensor represents a thermistor (the resistor which resistance changes with change of temperature). Change of resistance of the sensor exerts direct impact on amplitude of the signal given them on RSM. At the same time, with REDUCTION of temperature resistance of the sensor INCREASES and vice versa. The failure of the eats sensor leads to record in the block of memory of system of self-diagnostics of the P0116, P0117 or P0118 code.
2. Check of serviceability of functioning of the eats sensor is made by measurement of its resistance. Find the sensor and disconnect from it an electrical wiring.

3. Connect an ohmmeter to two plugs of assembly of the sensor. At a temperature about 20 °C the device has to register the indication around 2500 ÷ 3500 Ohms. Now start the engine and warm up it up to the normal working temperature (alternatively the sensor can be removed and heated-up up to the required temperature in a hot bathtub). Resistance of the sensor has to fall, and at a temperature about 83 °C to make 250 ÷ 350 Ohms. At negative results of the described check the eats sensor should be replaced.

If at the disconnected sensor the engine worked, do not forget to clear memory of system of self-diagnostics (see the Section System of Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) - the principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions).

REPLACEMENT

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Before starting implementation of the procedure, wait for full cooling of the engine.

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!

2. Before installation of the new sensor its carving part should be wound with a teflon sealing tape (film FUM).
3. Wring out a lock uvula, disconnect an electrical wiring, then accurately turn out the sensor. For the purpose of minimization of losses of cooling liquid try to screw the replaceable sensor as soon as possible.

Handle the eats sensor as it is possible more carefully as its damage is capable to exert noticeable impact on functioning of a power supply system in general.

4. Installation is made upside-down. In conclusion check the level of cooling liquid, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
